The purpose of Scrapbag Quilt Club is:
to promote fellowship among persons interested in all aspects of quilting and needlecraft;
to preserve and appreciate quilting and needlework heritage and traditions;
to enourage quilt making, needlework and collecting;
to share in the knowlege and education of quilting techniques and techniques of needlework.
The Scrapbag Quilt Club will use quilting and needlework skills
to support charitable projects.
Our logo was created by a committee of members and adopted in November 2008.
The bag shape is a play on our name. The bag design has:
two 9-patch blocks, which are staples in quilting design.
two heart blocks which are typically appliqued and represent our love for community and quilting.
a churn dash block, which is an old country block, representing our rural Northern Illinois location;
and a friendship star representing the conviviality of our quilting members.
Our meetings: Meetings are at 10 am the third Thursday of the month at the Lodge at Lake Summerset in Northern Illinois during the months of September to May. In June, July, and August, we meet on the third Thursday at Durand State Bank, Durand, Illinois.
Membership is open to anyone interested and dues are only $15 per year.
